They have some extraordinary chocolate at La Maison Du Chocolat with three locations in the city. At the Midtown location they have some extremely helpful and friendly employees. If you've never been you may think the chocolate is too rich for my wallet, but really it is not. You can buy chocolate by the piece. Do you like a fudgy brownies or a cakey brownie? If you like the latter and you are in midtown then you should stop at The Burger Joint in the Le Parker Meridien Hotel.
