il laboratorio del gelato

Posted by EatSomeSweets on Monday, April 4, 2011,
If you cannot find a gelato you like at il laboratorio del gelato then you should just go home. I stopped counting the flavors after I reached 15.  It is kind of overwhelming with the variety of flavors and not being able to actually see them all.  There are plenty of eager gelato lovers standing in front of the case. Be patient!  Some flavors you may have never heard of before, ask for a sample.  Sweet Potato is ummm, well, really good.  You shouldn't pass on a sample of cinnamon. Skip the c...

Panade

Posted by EatSomeSweets on Wednesday, November 17, 2010,
Panade is a tiny Puffs and Pastry Bakery, where they serve the highly underrated cream puff. Be alert because there is no sign that hangs overhead, only some serious puff people on the window. The puffs themselves are a perfect size and inexpensive. At any given time there are six or more flavors to choose from; Banana, Vanilla, Green Tea, Chocolate, Espresso and Chocolate Banana. What sets them apart from the rest in the city is the freshness and the cream. Panade actually cuts the puff down...

Meatball Shop

Posted by EatSomeSweets on Sunday, October 10, 2010,
The name Meatball Shop could throw you off a little. It is true they do make incredible meatballs, but they also have perfected certain ice cream flavors and the peanut butter cookie. They have a mint ice cream that has actual pieces of mint blended in. If you are a fan of mint ice cream you will love this mint ice cream. Their ice cream is made in house and flavors do change. They have a nice assortment of cookies and one that should be crowned The Peanut Butter Cookie of the year. It is fla...

Why limit yourself to just coffee when you are in a coffee shop? The Roasting Plant on the LES doesn't think you should. In fact they have some really good homemade cookies and a brownie that cake brownie and fudgy brownie lovers will both love. Plus, the brownie is so large that you can save it for later in the day.

Schiller's Liquor Bar

Posted by EatSomeSweets on Tuesday, September 14, 2010,
Three words, Sticky Toffee Pudding. Ever have it? Schiller's serves a perfect sized portion. It is not like American pudding, it is a soft sponge cake covered with a delicious sweet (not overly) toffee sauce. If you are lucky you will get more than a few pieces of toffee that has hardened to a crisp.  Why share?

Her delicious and extremely reasonably priced chocolates are guaranteed to make anyone happy; except those that don't or cannot eat chocolate. Don't worry there are homemade lollipops and popcorn too. The ladies are more than happy to help you with your selection. Enjoy!

Dessert Truck Works

Posted by EatSomeSweets on Monday, August 23, 2010,
When the Dessert Truck lost their lease in 2009, is was a sad day in NYC. They quickly opened shop on the LES serving the same delicious desserts the truck did. The truck has since opened, but visiting the store may give you the chance to meet the owners. Remember they have hot chocolate if you put it in the fridge overnight it becomes decadent mousse!
