I stumbled upon a little bake shop tucked away in the land of show tunes. Donna Bell's Bake Shop has the traditional fare, cupcakes, cookies and a banana pudding. They have a little lemon square, the kind of lemon square that will not make your face pucker. It has just the right amount of tartness, the right amount of powdered sugar all on top of a crunchy butter crust. Ah, the perfect lemon square.bit.ly/donnabells

Even though Taboon does not have a website and the prices are $$$$ it is still a nice experience to go with friends or on a date. Perhaps you'd sit at the bar and enjoy a delicious and strangely light Knaffe. Be careful not to drink all of the rose infused syrup. It tastes like tea. A Knaffe is two layers served between a nice portion of ricotta and goat cheese. Did I mention it is pan seared in butter? So what if it is not exactly low fat, but simplicity is elegant.http://bit.ly/fiaoxF... Continue reading...

Ruby et Violette is a little off the beaten path and in Manhattan that is not an easy task. They are perfectly located on a less busy section of Hells Kitchen, rather than between 9th and 8th Avenues. COOKIES! Can you name another place in the city where you'll find over 15 different types of cookies? These are not cookies for the weak at heart. They have some interestingly delicious choices. If you can't decide between Fig, Sweet Potato, Spiced Oatmeal or Chocolate Chip then I recommend gett... Continue reading...

It is difficult to name one specific dessert at 44th and X. If our arms were twisted and we were forced to name one, the only thing that could be voiced would be, use a spoon. There are not too many places where the desserts over shadow the food. Skip the dinner, sit at the bar and enjoy your dessert. Don't worry about the trek to 10th Ave, it is not that far. A plus is the polite and friendly staff who always have a smile on their face. http://bit.ly/d6ZjyV Continue reading...

According to some realtors, Burger's and Cupcakes is considered to be in Hell's Kitchen, so we will too. Their concept consists of two great things New Yorker's like these days; cupcakes and burgers. The cupcakes are moist and the variety is good. They can sell out by late afternoon, so get there a little early. If you are a chocoholic you may enjoy their chocolate ganche cupcake. You can use the cake part as an eatible device to hold the rich, thick, chocolate frosting. The place is large ... Continue reading...

The well known, some say famous Little Pie company really does have great pies. The Sour Cream Apple Walnut could be the most popular and is always available by the slice. It is highly recommended! One warning, never put pie in the microwave. Microwaved warm pie caused the crust to go limp and become soft, it loses any crunch or flakeyness. Nobody like a flakey-less, limp, soft pie crust. They also have sugar free apple pie and cupcakes.http://bit.ly/bhEesd Continue reading...

If you haven't been, do not turn away from the name. They have some of the finest walking sweets on the west side. Which means, you can take something to go and eat it right out of the bag. People will see the bag and know you have good taste, without knowing what is in the bag. Too many places that have Blondies, don't make them correctly... Amy's bread sure does. They have brownies, cookies, cupcakes and slices of cake. There is a Monkey Cake aka Hummingbird Cake with banana, pineapple, pe... Continue reading...

Behind the doors in a building with a rather minimal facade in HK lives Kyotofu, a Japanese Dessert Bar & Bakery. It's not large inside and there is a small back room. Their Chocolate Molten Cake will put a smile on your face. If you can't decided, try the Pre-Fix dessert. Green Tea Creme Brulee anyone? Be careful though, you may walk by if your not paying attention. They have been voted as having the best cupcakes in NYC.http://bit.ly/9gqLE5 Continue reading...
