Ditch Plains

There is something delicious about ordering a dessert in a restaurant where you have to wait for it to be cooked. It could mean, fresh? An odd concept I know, but we wait for our savory dishes (sin mexican). Ditch Plains has a Brownie baked in a Cast Iron Skillet, a personal skillet that is. It is about the size of a mini personal pizza, but tastes so much better. The batter is actually spooned into the skillet, then the skillet is placed in the oven and baked for about 15 minutes. 15 minutes provides you with the two best parts of a brownie, the crunchy side and the crunchy top layer covering the gooey fudge on the inside. Think heated brownie batter. It is certainly a dessert that should be shared with a least three hungry people.
bit.ly/ditchplainswv

Imperial Woodpecker

Get it while it's hot outside! Who knew that ice could taste so sweet and delicious! Imperial Woodpecker gives NY a new meaning to the word snowball. It's shaved ice served in containers we might only be used to seeing in Chinese restaurants. The ice is topped with a flavored syrup of your choice, in fact there are over 20 different flavors of syrup to choose from. The larger the size the more flavors you can choose. For a mind blowing sweet treat, top it with sweetened condense milk. I recommend the Mardi Gras King Cake, but don't worry there is no baby to bite into with this cake.
bit.ly/imperialwoodpecker
Sockerbit

Sockerbit on Christopher Street is Swedish for, this freaking candy is awesome! This is not your old school penny candy store. This is for the person who really likes and most importantly appreciates candies. Whether you swing towards sour candies, sweet candies or liquorice you will find something to make your mouth water. Try anything marshmallow!!! It is interesting that the store is white, some would call it minimalist. If you think about it, it makes sense, let the candies stand out. To be honest, it can be overwhelming. If you are new to the world of Swedish Candy, have no fear. The couple who own the shop are EXTREMELY helpful and they're more than willing to share their favorites with you. It's something you should experience with friends.
bit.ly/sockerbit

The Tea Set French Bistro

WOW! The Tea Set French Bistro is a great place in an area that needs a quaint restaurant that does not charge obscene amounts of money for their food. Simple, fresh and inviting. This is not a place for large groups and thank the owner for that, so many of us can enjoy The Tea Set. Breakfast is served all day. Mmmmm. Their sweets are fresh and I'd recommend their Lemon Tart. It is a perfect sized tart (not overly tart) in a delicate flaky shell. It is served with a generous portion of their Fresh Honey Whipped Cream. What a great way to spend an afternoon with a cup or glass of tea and a lemon tart.
http://bit.ly/teasetnyc

IL Cantuccio

Il Cantuccio has brought us a new way to look at a biscotti. It is also know as a cantucci or cantuccini. The most noticeable difference is the crunch or lack their of. The cantucci is softer than your traditional biscotti and slightly sweeter. You may never want a biscotti again. These Italian Cookies pair nicely with a cup of coffee or an espresso. They'd be a great addition to a early morning meeting in the office or a brunch with friends on the weekend. They have a nice assortment of fruits as well as traditional chocolate. Although rather pricey than you may think, it is all about the experience.
http://bit.ly/ilcantuccio

Quick think! You are going to brunch at your friends, you're in charge of the sweets and you have no idea what to bring. Luckily at Irene's Dolci there are a plethora of tarts to choose from. One in particular that you should bring is the Lemon Ricotta Crostata with Creme Brulee. It is a nice piece of buttery, creamy heaven with a hint of lemon served on a flaky crust. If you'd prefer something lighter, they have exceptional fruit jam tarts. Plus, inside the shop there is seating and helpful staff.
http://bit.ly/dul12s

There are multiple locations around the city. Which ever location you are at you must, must, must try the Kadaif. The base of Kadaif is similar to shredded wheat, which is topped with warm honey and then a sweet ricotta cheese. How many satisfying light and sweet desserts do you know?
http://bit.ly/aCcXZP

Blue Ribbon Bakery has created a Banana Walnut Bread Pudding that is incredibly good. The bread is not stale or too soggy, even with the delicious Banana Carmel Sauce. A la mode?
Attention chocoholics! This is your dream store. You can buy a chocolate bar and dip it in your chocolate tea for later, eat an outstanding spiced chocolate brownie now and wash it down with a chocolate drink, perhaps chocolate tea. I believe the spice is cayenne pepper, but have no fear it is not as hot as it may sound.
http://bit.ly/ciV7Gj
