Babycakes - San Diego

Seriously folks, these are some mighty fine cupcakes! Babycakes in San Diego is not vegan or celiac friendly. They create cupcake flavors that you will not find elsewhere in San Diego or the USA. They are not strange combinations or odd names. They have looked past the butter cream trend (YAY) and are bringing back traditional frosting, sugar frosting. It tastes more like a flavored dense, fresh whipped cream. It's not just the frosting that sets them apart, it's the inside of the actual cake. Most cupcakes have an incredibly moist center, which is the same flavor of the cake, yet more concentrated. Think a raspberry cupcake, which has a raspberry jam in the center. It is a most delicious surprise. Unfortunately, they do not ship their cupcakes. Try the Pistachio Cupcake, it is soooooooo good!
bit.ly/gtphFd

The chocolate is made on premises by two chocolate artisans. The Eclipse product offering ranges from little pieces to truffles to chocolate drinks. They do ship their product, hint hint.
bit.ly/eOut96

Who knew that being over 2,800 miles away from NYC there would be a place that makes delicious cheesecake? The Incredible Cheesecake Company in San Diego has not one flavor available daily, but six different kinds. If you are in San Diego and you are feeling homesick for some NY Style Cheesecake you'd be a fool not to visit. By the way, the crust? It's Graham Crackers.
bit.ly/eFZao4

Sweet Lady Jane Bakery

Sweet Lady Jane Bakery has more cakes available by the slice than you'll remember. There are about 20 different cakes available by the slice at anytime. Each cake more beautiful than the next, a work of art. You are almost guaranteed to find a favorite slice. The location in West Hollywood is popular among people you'd find on the cover of gossip magazines. While the Santa Monica location is much more laid back and relaxing. The cakes are as scrumptious on the inside as they are sexy on the outside ie: Chocolate Ganache Cake. The slices are quite large and will remain fresh if not eaten the day purchased. If you prefer something lighter try the Raspberry Lemon or a cookie.
http://bit.ly/fPjSoq

Nothing Bundt Cakes

Nothing Bundt Cakes is another delicious cake boutique with multiple locations around California. The Santa Monica location is located within walking distance to Sweet Lady Jane, so you can get some cake at both places. Nothing Bundt Cakes only sells bundt cakes, but in many flavors and in three different sizes. Ah variety here folks! The thick and rich icing cascades down the side of each cake and depending on the flavor of the cake it would be cream cheese or confectionary sugar... win win either way!
http://bit.ly/gM7axI

Winchell's

This place is home to the cake donut. You will find plenty in the LA area. The best way to eat a Winchell's is to eat it immediately, even if that means while driving down the road. Please note, ESS is not encouraging you to eat your donut while driving. You could have them shipped, but why would you? They would not be warm or fresh.
